Iyad bin Himar reported,

A man asked the Prophet ﷺ, "Messenger of Allah, what do you say about a man who insults me when he is of lower lineage than I am?"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "Two men who exchange insults are two devils hurling abuse at one another and lying about each other."

أنه سأل النبي ﷺ فقال يا رسول الله ﷺ أرأيت الرجل يشتمني وهو أنقص مني نسبا فقال رسول الله ﷺ المستبان شيطانان يتهاتران ويتكاذبان
