Muhammad reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Sham will be opened up for you, and when you are given the choice of dwellings within it, then keep to a city called Damascus, for it is the stronghold of the Muslims during the great battles, and its encampment within it is in a land called al-Ghutah."

حدثنا أبو اليمان حدثنا أبو بكر يعني ابن أبي مريم عن عبد الرحمن بن جبير بن نفير عن أبيه قال حدثنا

رجل من أصحاب محمد ﷺ

أن رسول الله ﷺ قال ستفتح عليكم الشام فإذا خيرتم المنازل فيها فعليكم بمدينة يقال لها دمشق فإنها معقل المسلمين من الملاحم وفسطاطها منها بأرض يقال لها الغوطة
