Ibn Jurayj reported,

Abu Ayub rode out to visit Uqba bin Amir in Egypt and said to him, "I have come to ask you about a matter, for none of those who were present with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he spoke of it remain except you and me. How did you hear the Messenger of Allah ﷺ speak about concealing the faults of a believer?"Uqba replied, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Whoever conceals the fault of a believer in this world, Allah will conceal his faults on the Day of Resurrection.'"So Abu Ayub returned to Madinah, and he had not even unloaded his mount before he set out to relate this hadith.

وركب أبو أيوب إلى عقبة بن عامر إلى مصر فقال إني سائلك عن أمر لم يبق ممن حضره مع رسول الله ﷺ إلا أنا وأنت كيف سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول في ستر المؤمن فقال سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول من ستر مؤمنا في الدنيا على عورة ستره الله عز وجل يوم القيامة فرجع إلى المدينة فما حل رحله يحدث هذا الحديث
