Uqba bin Amir reported, I met the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he said to me, "Uqba bin Amir, maintain ties with the one who cuts you off, give to the one who deprives you, and pardon the one who wrongs you."Then I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ again and he said to me, "Uqba bin Amir, control your tongue, weep over your sins, and let your home be enough for you."Then I met the Messenger of Allah ﷺ once more and he said to me, "Uqba bin Amir, shall I teach you surahs the like of which were not revealed in the Torah, nor in the Psalms, nor in the Gospel, nor in the Furqan? No night should pass without you reciting them: Say, He is Allah, the One, Say, I seek refuge in the Lord of the daybreak, and Say, I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind."Uqba said, "Not a single night has passed without my reciting them, and it is only right that I never abandon them, since the Messenger of Allah ﷺ himself commanded me to recite them."Whenever Farwa bin Mujahid would narrate this hadith, he would say, "How many a person there is who cannot control his tongue, who does not weep over his sins, and whose home is not enough for him."
حدثنا حسين بن محمد حدثنا ابن عياش عن أسيد بن عبد الرحمن الخثعمي عن فروة بن مجاهد اللخمي
لقيت رسول الله ﷺ فقال لي يا عقبة بن عامر صل من قطعك وأعط من حرمك واعف عمن ظلمك قال ثم أتيت رسول الله ﷺ فقال لي يا عقبة بن عامر أملك لسانك وابك على خطيئتك وليسعك بيتك قال ثم لقيت رسول الله ﷺ فقال لي يا عقبة بن عامر ألا أعلمك سورا ما أنزلت في التوراة ولا في الزبور ولا في الإنجيل ولا في الفرقان مثلهن لا يأتين عليك ليلة إلا قرأتهن فيها قل هو الله أحد وقل أعوذ برب الفلق وقل أعوذ برب الناس قال عقبة فما أتت علي ليلة إلا قرأتهن فيها وحق لي أن لا أدعهن وقد أمرني بهن رسول الله ﷺ وكان فروة بن مجاهد إذا حدث بهذا الحديث يقول ألا فرب من لا يملك لسانه أو لا يبكي على خطيئته ولا يسعه بيته
