His sister had vowed to walk barefoot and unveiled. He asked the Prophet ﷺ about it, and he said, "Allah gains nothing from your sister's hardship. Tell her to cover her head, ride, and fast for three days."
حدثنا وكيع قال حدثنا سفيان عن يحيى بن سعيد عن عبيد الله بن زحر عن أبي سعيد الرعيني عن عبد الله بن مالك اليحصبي
أن أخته نذرت أن تمشي حافية غير مختمرة فسأل النبي ﷺ فقال إن الله لا يصنع بشقاء أختك شيئا مرها فلتختمر ولتركب ولتصم ثلاثة أيام
Its isnad is sahih. Ubaydullah bin Zahr Dumari Afriqi has been deemed trustworthy by scholars, and his hadith appears in the Sunan. Abu Saeed Ruaini, who is Jathal bin Haan Misri, the well-known jurist, is also deemed trustworthy, and his hadith likewise appears in the Sunan. Abdullah bin Malik Yahsubi is similar to them both, and he is also Egyptian. This hadith was mentioned previously at 17224.
