During the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, people used to lease farmlands in exchange for the produce that grew along the irrigation channels, what was watered by the streams, and a portion of the straw. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ disapproved of leasing farmlands on these terms and forbade it.Rafi said, "There is no harm in leasing them for dirhams and dinars."
