Do not sell water, for I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbid the sale of water. Amr did not know which water it was.
حدثنا سفيان عن عمرو قال أخبرني أبو المنهال
لا تبيعوا الماء فإني سمعت رسول الله ﷺ نهى عن بيع الماء لا يدري عمرو أي ماء هو
Its isnad is sahih. Sufyan is Ibn Uyayna, Amr is Ibn Dinar, and Abu Minhal is Abdul-Rahman bin Mutim Makki, who is trustworthy. His hadith is found in the collections of all the major authorities, and the hadith is in Sunnah, having already appeared at 15382, among the hadiths of Iyas himself.
