Ibn Murba al-Ansari came to us while we were standing at a distant spot in the place of the standing and said, "I am the messenger of the Messenger of Allah to you. He says, 'Remain at your ritual stations, for you are upon a heritage from the heritage of Ibrahim.'"Amr mentioned this because of how far away the spot was.
حدثنا سفيان عن عمرو يعني ابن دينار عن عمرو بن عبد الله بن صفوان
أتانا ابن مربع الأنصاري ونحن في مكان من الموقف بعيد فقال إني رسول رسول الله إليكم يقول كونوا على مشاعركم هذه فإنكم على إرث من إرث إبراهيم لمكان تباعده عمرو
Its isnad is sahih. Amr bin Abdullah bin Safwan bin Umaya is among the trustworthy successors, as is his father, and Yazid bin Shayban is a companion from the Azd.The hadith was narrated by Tirmidhi 3/221, no. 883, in the chapter on Hajj, on what has been said about standing at Arafat, and he said, hasan sahih. It was also narrated by Nasai 5/255, no. 3014, and Ibn Majah 2/1007, no. 3011, and Humaydi 1/262, no. 577. Hakim graded it sahih at 1/462, and Dhahabi agreed with him.
