He informed him that while he was sitting with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, a Jewish man came to him and said, "Muhammad, does this funeral bier speak?"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "Allah knows best."The Jewish man said, "I bear witness that it does speak."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said, "When the People of the Book tell you something, neither believe them nor disbelieve them. Say, 'We believe in Allah, His books, and His messengers.' If what they say is true, you will not have rejected it, and if it is false, you will not have accepted it."
حدثنا حجاج قال أخبرنا ليث بن سعد قال حدثني عقيل عن ابن شهاب عن ابن أبي نملة أن
أخبره أنه بينما هو جالس عند رسول الله ﷺ جاءه رجل من اليهود فقال يا محمد هل تتكلم هذه الجنازة قال رسول الله ﷺ الله أعلم قال اليهودي أنا أشهد أنها تتكلم فقال رسول الله ﷺ إذا حدثكم أهل الكتاب فلا تصدقوهم ولا تكذبوهم وقولوا آمنا بالله وكتبه ورسله فإن كان حقا لم تكذبوهم وإن كان باطلا لم تصدقوهم
