He heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Hosting a guest for one night is an obligatory right upon every Muslim. If a guest spends the morning at his doorstep, it becomes a debt owed by him. If the guest wishes, he may claim it, and if he wishes, he may waive it."

أنه سمع رسول الله ﷺ يقول على كل مسلم لليلة الضيف حق واجبة فإن أصبح بفنائه فهو عليه دين إن شاء اقتضى وإن شاء ترك
