Abu Bakr brought home a guest, or some guests, and stayed late with the Prophet ﷺ. When he came home, his wife said to him, "You stayed away from your guest," or "your guests," "all evening."He asked, "Did you not give them their supper?"She replied, "No. I offered it to him," or "to them," "but he refused," or "they refused."Abu Bakr became angry and swore that he would not eat it, and the guest, or guests, swore that they would not eat it until he ate. Abu Bakr said, "This must be from Satan." So he called for the food, and he ate, and they ate. Every time they lifted a morsel, more food rose up from beneath it than they had taken. He said, "Sister of Banu Firas, what is this?"She replied, "Light of my eyes, there is now more of it than there was before we ate."So they ate, and he sent some of it to the Prophet ﷺ, and it was mentioned that he ate from it.
Its isnad is sahih. Abu Uthman is Nahdi. This hadith and hadith 1704 are abridged from 1712, and its sourcing will come there, Allah willing."Since tonight" appears in K as "since tonight." "I have presented that" appears in K as "that." "Rabat" means "it grew and increased." "O sister of the Banu Firas" is said because the wife of Abu Bakr, mother of Abdul-Rahman and Ayesha, is Umm Ruman bint Amir, from the Banu Firas bin Ghanm bin Malik bin Kinanah. "The delight of my eye" appears in K as "No, by the delight of my eye," which agrees with the coming narration 1712. "So they ate" appears in K as "so he ate and they ate."
