Abu Umama reported,

Abu Umama said, "Amr bin Abasa, the man of reason and the keeper of the charity records, a man from the tribe of Bani Sulaym, on what basis do you claim that you are the fourth person to embrace Islam?"He replied, "During the days of ignorance, I used to see people in misguidance, and I considered the idols to be nothing. Then I heard about a man who was reporting news from Mecca and conveying certain teachings. So I mounted my camel and traveled until I reached Mecca. There I found the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in hiding, with his people behaving fiercely toward him. I approached him gently and managed to come in to see him.I asked, 'What are you?'He answered, 'I am a Prophet of Allah.'I asked, 'And what is a Prophet of Allah?'He said, 'A Messenger of Allah.'I asked, 'Did Allah send you?'He said, 'Yes.'I asked, 'With what did He send you?'He said, 'That Allah be declared one, with nothing associated with Him, that idols be broken, and that ties of kinship be maintained.'I asked him, 'Who is with you in this?'He said, 'A free man and a slave,' or 'A slave and a free man.' With him at that time were Abu Bakr bin Abu Quhafa and Bilal, the freed slave of Abu Bakr.I said, 'I will follow you.'He said, 'You cannot do that on this day of yours. Rather, return to your family, and when you hear that I have prevailed, then come to me.'So I returned to my family, and I had become a Muslim. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ departed as a migrant to Medina. I kept inquiring for news until a group of riders came from Yathrib.I asked, 'What about this Meccan who has come to you?'They said, 'His people wanted to kill him but were unable to do so. They were prevented from getting at him, and we left the people streaming toward him.'Amr bin Abasa continued, "So I mounted my camel and traveled until I reached him in Medina. I came in to see him and said, 'Messenger of Allah, do you recognize me?'He said, 'Yes. Are you not the one who came to me in Mecca?'I said, 'Yes indeed.' Then I said, 'Messenger of Allah, teach me from what Allah has taught you and which I do not know.'He said, 'When you have prayed the dawn prayer, refrain from prayer until the sun rises. Once it has risen, do not pray until it has climbed higher, for it rises between the two horns of Satan, and at that moment the disbelievers prostrate to it. When it has risen the length of a spear or two, then pray, for the prayer is witnessed and attended by the angels until the spear casts no shadow but stands straight up. Then refrain from prayer, for at that time Hell is stoked. When the shadow returns, then pray, for the prayer is witnessed and attended until you pray the afternoon prayer. After you pray the afternoon prayer, refrain from prayer until the sun sets, for it sets between the two horns of Satan, and at that moment the disbelievers prostrate to it.'I said, 'Prophet of Allah, tell me about ablution.'He said, 'There is no one among you who brings his water for ablution close, then rinses his mouth, draws water into his nose, and blows it out, except that the sins of his mouth and nostrils come out with the water as he blows it out. Then he washes his face as Allah the Exalted has commanded, and the sins of his face come out from the ends of his beard with the water. Then he washes his hands up to the elbows, and the sins of his hands come out from his fingertips. Then he wipes his head, and the sins of his head come out from the ends of his hair with the water. Then he washes his feet up to the ankles as Allah عز وجل has commanded him, and the sins of his feet come out from the ends of his toes with the water. Then he stands and praises Allah عز وجل and extols Him with what He is worthy of, and prays two units of prayer, except that he emerges from his sins as he was on the day his mother bore him.'"Abu Umama said, "Amr bin Abasa, consider carefully what you are saying. Did you really hear this from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ? Is all of this granted to a man in a single instance?"Amr bin Abasa replied, "Abu Umama, I have grown old in years, my bones have weakened, and my appointed time draws near. I have no need to lie about Allah عز وجل or about His Messenger. Even if I had only heard it from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ once, twice, or three times, I would mention it. But I heard it from him seven times or even more."
