Shaddad bin Abdullah reported,

He had met a number of the companions of the Prophet ﷺ. From Abu Umama, from Amr bin Abasa, who said,I said, "Messenger of Allah, teach me from what Allah has taught you."He said, "When you pray the dawn prayer, refrain from praying until the sun rises. When it rises, do not pray until it has climbed up, for it rises between the two horns of Shaytan, and at that moment the disbelievers prostrate to it. When it has risen the length of a spear or two, then pray, for the prayer at that time is witnessed and attended, until the spear's shadow shortens to nothing. Then refrain from praying, for at that moment Hellfire is stoked. When the shadow lengthens again, then pray, for the prayer is witnessed and attended, until you pray the afternoon prayer. When you have prayed the afternoon prayer, refrain from praying until the sun sets, for it sets between the two horns of Shaytan, and at that moment the disbelievers prostrate to it."

وكان قد أدرك نفرا من أصحاب النبي ﷺ عن أبي أمامة عن عمرو بن عبسة قال قلت يا رسول الله علمني مما علمك الله عز وجل قال إذا صليت الصبح فأقصر عن الصلاة حتى تطلع الشمس فإذا طلعت فلا تصل حتى ترتفع فإنها تطلع حين تطلع بين قرني شيطان وحينئذ يسجد لها الكفار فإذا ارتفعت قيد رمح أو رمحين فصل فإن الصلاة مشهودة محضورة حتى يعني يستقل الرمح بالظل ثم أقصر عن الصلاة فإنها حينئذ تسجر جهنم فإذا أفاء الفيء فصل فإن الصلاة مشهودة محضورة حتى تصلي العصر فإذا صليت العصر فأقصر عن الصلاة حتى تغرب الشمس فإنها تغرب بين قرني شيطان فحينئذ يسجد لها الكفار
