Yazid bin Akhnas reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There is no rivalry permitted between you except in two cases. A man whom Allah has given the Quran, so he recites it throughout the hours of the night and the hours of the day and follows what is in it, prompting another man to say, 'If only Allah Most High had given me what He gave so-and-so, I would do with it what he does.' And a man whom Allah has given wealth, so he spends it and gives in charity, prompting another man to say, 'If only Allah had given me what He gave so-and-so, I would give it in charity.'"A man asked, "Messenger of Allah, what do you say about courage that may be found in a man..." and the rest of the hadith is lost.

حدثنا عبد الله قال وجدت في كتاب أبي بخط يده قال كتب إلي أبو توبة الربيع بن نافع وكان في كتابه حدثنا الهيثم بن حميد عن زيد بن واقد عن سليمان بن موسى عن كثير بن مرة

عن يزيد بن الأخنس

أن رسول الله ﷺ قال لا تنافس بينكم إلا في اثنتين رجل أعطاه الله عز وجل القرآن فهو يقوم به آناء الليل وآناء النهار ويتبع ما فيه فيقول رجل لو أن الله تعالى أعطاني مثل ما أعطى فلانا فأقوم به كما يقوم به ورجل أعطاه الله مالا فهو ينفق ويتصدق فيقول رجل لو أن الله أعطاني مثل ما أعطى فلانا فأتصدق به فقال رجل يا رسول الله أرأيتك النجدة تكون في الرجل وسقط باقي الحديث
