Muawiya entered upon Ayesha, and she said to him, "Did you not fear that I might station a man here to kill you?"He replied, "You would not do that, for I am in a house of safety, and I heard the Prophet ﷺ say that faith restrains assassination. How am I regarding what is between you and me, and concerning your needs?"She said, "Fine."He said, "Then leave us and them alone until we meet our Lord ."

Its chain of transmission is hasan, because of Ali bin Zayd. The hadith was narrated by Abu Dawud 3/87, no. 2769, in the chapter on jihad, on the enemy being taken by surprise, and by Tabarani in al-Kabir 19/319, no. 723, and by Hakim 4/352, with whom Dhahabi agreed, though Haythami graded it daif because of Ali bin Zayd, despite having previously graded it hasan.
