Abu Ubayda once spoke harshly to a man, and Khalid bin Walid forbade him from doing so.Abu Ubayda asked, "Have I angered the commander?"He then came to him and said, "I did not mean to anger you, but I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'The people most severely punished on the Day of Resurrection will be those who inflicted the most severe punishment on people in this world.'"

تناول أبو عبيدة رجلا بشيء فنهاه خالد بن الوليد فقال أغضبت الأمير فأتاه فقال إني لم أرد أن أغضبك ولكني سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول إن أشد الناس عذابا يوم القيامة أشد الناس عذابا للناس في الدنيا
