I went out on a summer military expedition with Khalid bin Walid. My companions craved meat and said, "Will you give us permission to slaughter a mare belonging to him?"They tied her up. I said, "Stay where you are until I go to Khalid bin Walid and ask him about this."So I went to him and told him what my companions had said. He replied, "I went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the expedition of Khaybar, and the people rushed into the enclosures of the Jews. He said, 'Khalid, call out among the people that the prayer is to be performed in congregation, and that none shall enter Paradise except a Muslim.' So I did. Then he stood among the people and said, 'People, what is the matter with you that you have rushed into the enclosures of the Jews? The wealth of those under treaty is not lawful except by right. Forbidden to you are the flesh of domestic donkeys, their horses, their mules, every fanged beast of prey, and every bird with talons.'"
حدثنا علي بن بحر حدثنا محمد بن حرب الخولاني حدثنا أبو سلمة الحمصي عن صالح بن يحيى بن المقدام عن ابن المقدام
غزوت مع خالد بن الوليد الصائفة فقرم أصحابي إلى اللحم فقالوا أتأذن لنا أن نذبح رمكة له قال فحبلوها فقلت مكانكم حتى آتي خالد بن الوليد فأسأله عن ذلك فأتيته فأخبرته خبر أصحابي فقال غزوت مع رسول الله ﷺ غزوة خيبر فأسرع الناس في حظائر يهود فقال يا خالد ناد في الناس أن الصلاة جامعة لا يدخل الجنة إلا مسلم ففعلت فقام في الناس فقال يا أيها الناس ما بالكم أسرعتم في حظائر يهود ألا لا تحل أموال المعاهدين إلا بحقها وحرام عليكم حمر الأهلية والإنسية وخيلها وبغالها وكل ذي ناب من السباع وكل ذي مخلب من الطير
