I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the campaign on the day of the Conquest, and I was a young lad making my way through the people asking about the house of Khalid bin Walid. A man who had been drinking wine was brought forward, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered them to strike him with whatever they had in their hands. Some struck him with a stick, others with a whip, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ threw dust upon him.
