Fudayl bin Zayd Raqashi, who had taken part in seven military campaigns during the rule of Umar bin Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, came to Abdullah bin Mughafal and said, "Tell me what Allah has forbidden us from these drinks."Abdullah replied, "Wine."Fudayl said, "That is in the Quran. Shall I not rather tell you what I heard from Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?" He began with the name or with the title of messengership.Fudayl said, "That is enough for me, I am satisfied."Abdullah said, "He forbade the gourd, the green jar, the hollowed stump, and the pitch-coated vessel."Fudayl asked, "What is the green jar?"Abdullah replied, "The green and the white ones."Fudayl asked, "What is the pitch-coated vessel?"Abdullah replied, "Anything smeared with tar, whether a leather skin or something else."Fudayl said, "So I went off to the market and bought an untanned hide, and it has remained hanging in my house ever since."

عن فضيل بن زيد الرقاشي وقد غزا سبع غزوات في إمرة عمر بن الخطاب رضي الله تعالى عنه أنه أتى عبد الله بن مغفل فقال أخبرني بما حرم الله علينا من هذا الشراب فقال الخمر قال هذا في القرآن أفلا أحدثك سمعت محمدا رسول الله ﷺ بدأ بالاسم أو بالرسالة قال شرعي أني اكتفيت قال نهى عن الدباء والحنتم والنقير والمقير قال ما الحنتم قال الأخضر والأبيض قال ما المقير قال ما لطخ بالقار من زق أو غيره قال فانطلقت إلى السوق فاشتريت أفيقة فما زالت معلقة في بيتي
Its isnad is sahih. Thabit bin Yazid, Abu Zayd, is Ahwal, and he is trustworthy, reliable, and well known. Fudayl bin Zayd Raqashi is trustworthy, and he was mentioned previously at 16739.
