He heard a son of his saying, "O Allah, I ask You for Firdaws and such and such, and I ask You for such and such."He said, "My son, ask Allah for Paradise and seek refuge with Allah from the Fire, for I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'There will be among this nation people who transgress in supplication and in purification.'"
Its chain of transmission is daif because of Yazid bin Aban Raqashi. They graded him daif because of his memory, and they said, "The heedlessness of the ascetics overtook him." Abu Nuama is Qays bin Ubayah, mentioned shortly before, and he is trustworthy. The hadith is sahih, Hakim reported it through Jareeri from Abu Nuama, and Dhahabi agreed with him, 1/540, and it will come again as sahih in this manner at 16745. Abu Dawud also reported it, 1/24, no. 96, in the Book of Purification, chapter on Excess in Water, as did Ibn Majah, 2/1271, no. 3864.
