The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered that dogs be killed, then he said, "What is the matter with them and dogs?" He then granted permission for hunting dogs and sheepdogs.He said, "When a dog laps from a vessel, wash it seven times, and the eighth time scrub it with dirt."
قال حدثنا يحيى عن شعبة قال حدثنا أبو التياح عن مطرف
أن رسول الله ﷺ أمر بقتل الكلاب ثم قال ما لهم ولها فرخص في كلب الصيد وفي كلب الغنم قال وإذا ولغ الكلب في الإناء فاغسلوه سبع مرار والثامنة عفروه بالتراب
Its isnad is sahih. Abu Tayah is Yazid bin Humayd Dubi, who is trustworthy, and his hadith is found among the six books' compilers. Likewise Mutarrif bin Abdullah bin Shikhir, who is among the trustworthy successors.The hadith was narrated by Muslim, 3/1200, no. 1573, in the chapter on Musaqah, on the command to kill dogs. And Abu Dawud, 1/19, no. 74, in the chapter on Purification, on wudu with the leftover water of a dog. And Nasai, 1/54, no. 67, in the chapter on Purification, on scouring the vessel. And Darimi, 2/124, no. 2006.
