I heard him, meaning the Prophet ﷺ, reciting on the Day of the Conquest. Were it not that people would gather around me, I would have demonstrated for you the recitation of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said, he recited Surah al-Fath. He said, were it not that people would gather around me, I would have shown you what Abdullah, meaning Ibn Mughafal, said about how the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited it.Bahz and Ghundar said, he repeated and drew out his voice in it.
قال حدثنا ابن إدريس قال سمعت شعبة يذكر عن أبي إياس معاوية بن قرة المزني
سمعته يقرأ يعني النبي ﷺ يوم الفتح فلولا أن يجتمع الناس علي لحكيت لكم قراءة رسول الله ﷺ قال قرأ سورة الفتح قال لولا أن يجتمع الناس علي لحكيت لكم ما قال عبد الله يعني ابن مغفل كيف قرأ رسول الله ﷺ و قال بهز وغندر قال فرجع فيها
Its chain of transmission is sahih, and its narrators are leading authorities. The hadith was narrated by Muslim, 1/547, no. 794, in the chapter on travelers, mentioning the recitation of the Prophet ﷺ, and Abu Dawud, 467, in the chapter on prayer, on the recommendation of measured recitation in Quran reading.
