"How did I report it to you?"He replied, "Father, you told me that Dhul-Yadayn met you at Dhu Khushub and informed you that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ led them in one of the two afternoon prayers, namely the Asr prayer. He prayed two rakahs, and the people who were quick to leave departed saying, 'The prayer has been shortened.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up, and Abu Bakr and Umar followed him, both initiating speech. Then Dhul-Yadayn caught up with him and said, 'Messenger of Allah, has the prayer been shortened, has the prayer been shortened, or have you forgotten?' He replied, 'It has not been shortened, nor have I forgotten.' Then he turned to Abu Bakr and Umar
and asked, 'What is Dhul-Yadayn saying?' They replied, 'He has spoken the truth, Messenger of Allah.' So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ returned, the people gathered back, and he prayed two rakahs, then gave the salam, then performed the two prostrations of forgetfulness."Abu Sulayman said, "I was told this six or seven years ago, then he gave the salam, and I am uncertain about that part, though it is what I best remember."

Its isnad is daif, and it has many flaws. The first is that Madi bin Sulayman, the food merchant, is daif. Abu Zura discredited him and Nasai declared him daif, while Abu Hatim said, "A minor shaykh."The second is the obscurity of Shuayth bin Mutayyar bin Sulaym, for they mentioned him as being of unknown status. The third is that his father is one whose hadith is rejected. They said of him, "He did not master the hadith accurately."This hadith is among the additional narrations, but the story itself is sahih through other chains, which the two shaykhs and the four (compilers) mentioned, and which have already been given.
