The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out and urged people to contribute to the army of hardship.Uthman bin Affan said, "I will provide one hundred camels with their saddle blankets and saddles."Then he urged them again, and Uthman said, "I will provide another hundred with their saddle blankets and saddles."Then he descended one step of the pulpit and urged them again, and Uthman bin Affan said, "I will provide another hundred with their saddle blankets and saddles."I saw the Prophet ﷺ gesturing with his hand like this, moving it. Abdul-Samad extended his hand as one in amazement. "Nothing Uthman does after this will harm him."

Its isnad is daif. It contains Farqad, Abu Talha, whom scholars have described as majhul, and Tirmidhi likewise declared it daif in volume 5/625, number 3700, in the chapter on the merits of Uthman, saying it is gharib. However, he mentioned his equipping of the army of hardship, and that those who had sworn against him were being truthful in what they said. It is number 3703, and more on this will come later.
