The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to his companions, "Among you are some men whom I do not give anything, leaving them to what they already have." Furat bin Hayan was one of them. He was from the tribe of Banu Ijl.
قال حدثنا يحيى بن آدم قال حدثنا إسرائيل عن أبي إسحاق عن حارثة بن مضرب
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال لأصحابه إن منكم رجالا لا أعطيهم شيئا أكلهم منهم فرات بن حيان قال من بني عجل
Its isnad is sahih. Haritha bin Mudarrib Abdi Kufi is trustworthy, his hadith appears in the Four (Sunan) and in Bukhari's Al-Adab. Haythami likewise graded it sahih, 9/380, as did Hakim in two places, 2/115 and 4/266, and Dhahabi agreed with him in both. Bayhaqi transmitted it from him, 8/197. The hadith also appears in Abu Dawud, 3/48, number 2652, in the chapter on jihad, concerning the dhimmi spy.
