Amr bin Qari reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ set out and left Saad behind, ill, when he departed for Hunayn. When he returned from Jiranah to perform Umrah, he visited Saad, who was severely ill and overcome by his sickness.Saad said, "Messenger of Allah, I have wealth, and I leave behind no direct heirs except a distant one. Shall I bequeath all my wealth, or give it all in charity?"He replied, "No."Saad asked, "Then shall I bequeath two-thirds of it?"He replied, "No."Saad asked, "Then shall I bequeath half of it?"He replied, "No."Saad asked, "Then shall I bequeath a third?"He replied, "Yes, and even that is much."Saad said, "Messenger of Allah, am I to die in the very land from which I emigrated?"He replied, "I hope that Allah will raise you up, so that through you some peoples will be struck down and others will benefit. Amr bin Qari, if Saad dies after me, bury him over here, toward the road to Madinah," and he gestured with his hand in this manner.

قال حدثنا عفان قال حدثنا وهيب حدثنا عبد الله بن عثمان بن خثيم عن عمرو بن القاري عن أبيه

عن جده عمرو بن القاري

أن رسول الله ﷺ قدم فخلف سعدا مريضا حيث خرج إلى حنين فلما قدم من جعرانة معتمرا دخل عليه وهو وجع مغلوب فقال يا رسول الله إن لي مالا وإني أورث كلالة أفأوصي بمالي كله أو أتصدق به قال لا قال أفأوصي بثلثيه قال لا قال أفأوصي بشطره قال لا قال أفأوصي بثلثه قال نعم وذاك كثير قال أي رسول الله أموت بالدار التي خرجت منها مهاجرا قال إني لأرجو أن يرفعك الله فينكأ بك أقواما وينفع بك آخرين يا عمرو بن القاري إن مات سعد بعدي فها هنا فادفنه نحو طريق المدينة وأشار بيده هكذا
