I was sitting with the Prophet ﷺ when a funeral bier was brought.He asked, "Did he leave any debt?"They replied, "No."He asked, "Did he leave anything behind?"They replied, "No."So he prayed over him.Then another bier was brought.He asked, "Did he leave any debt?"They replied, "No."He asked, "Did he leave anything behind?"They replied, "Yes, three dinars."He gestured with his finger and said, "Three brands of fire."Then a third bier was brought.He asked, "Did he leave any debt?"They replied, "Yes."He asked, "Did he leave anything behind?"They replied, "No."He said, "Pray over your companion yourselves."A man from the Ansar said, "His debt is upon me, Messenger of Allah."So he prayed over him.
قال حدثنا حماد بن مسعدة عن يزيد يعني ابن أبي عبيد
كنت جالسا مع النبي ﷺ فأتي بجنازة فقال هل ترك من دين قالوا لا قال هل ترك من شيء قالوا لا قال فصلى عليه ثم أتي بأخرى فقال هل ترك من دين قالوا لا قال هل ترك من شيء قالوا نعم ثلاث دنانير قال فقال بإصبعه ثلاث كيات قال ثم أتي بالثالثة فقال هل ترك من دين قالوا نعم قال هل ترك من شيء قالوا لا قال صلوا على صاحبكم فقال رجل من الأنصار علي دينه يا رسول الله قال فصلى عليه
