I went out with Abu Bakr on the campaign of Hawazin, and I was awarded a slave girl as part of my share of the spoils. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked me to give her to him as a gift, and he sent her to Mecca, where he ransomed some Muslim captives in exchange for her.

خرجت مع أبي بكر في غزاة هوازن فنفلني جارية فاستوهبها رسول الله ﷺ فبعث بها إلى مكة ففدى بها أناسا من المسلمين
