He was one of his clan, and Abdullah bin Zayd was among the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who had been present with him at Uhud. He said, "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he prayed for rain on our behalf. He prolonged the supplication and made many petitions." He continued, "Then he turned toward the qiblah and turned his cloak around, flipping it inside out, and the people turned with him."
قال حدثنا يعقوب قال حدثنا أبي عن ابن إسحاق قال حدثني عبد الله بن أبي بكر عن عباد بن تميم الأنصاري ثم المازني
وكان أحد رهطه وكان عبد الله بن زيد من أصحاب رسول الله ﷺ قد شهد معه أحدا قال قد رأيت رسول الله ﷺ حين استسقى لنا أطال الدعاء وأكثر المسألة قال ثم تحول إلى القبلة وحول رداءه فقلبه ظهرا لبطن وتحول الناس معه
