When Muawiya left Kufa, he appointed Mughira bin Shuba as governor. Mughira set up speakers who would disparage Ali, and I was sitting beside Saeed bin Zayd bin Amr bin Nufayl.Saeed grew angry, stood up, took my hand, and I followed him. He said, "Do you not see this man wronging himself by commanding that a man of the people of Paradise be cursed? I bear witness for nine men that they are in Paradise, and if I bore witness for the tenth, I would not be sinning."I asked, "Who are they?"He replied, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Be firm, Hira, for there is none upon you but a prophet, a truthful one, or a martyr.'"I asked, "Who were they?"He answered, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, Ali, Zubayr, Talha, Abdul-Rahman bin Awf, and Saad bin Malik." Then he fell silent.I asked, "And who is the tenth?"He said, "I am."
