My ears heard and my eyes saw when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ spoke. He said, "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him honor his neighbor. Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him honor his guest with his due."They asked, "What is his due, Messenger of Allah?"He replied, "A day and a night. Hospitality is for three days, and whatever is beyond that is charity given to him." He also said, "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him speak good or remain silent."Abu Kamil added, "And let him not stay so long with his host that he causes him hardship."
حدثنا حجاج وأبو كامل حدثنا ليث يعني ابن سعد قال حدثني سعيد بن أبي سعيد
سمعت أذناي وأبصرت عيناي حين تكلم رسول الله ﷺ فقال من كان يؤمن بالله واليوم الآخر فليكرم جاره ومن كان يؤمن بالله واليوم الآخر فليكرم ضيفه جائزته قالوا وما جائزته يا رسول الله قال يوم وليلة والضيافة ثلاث فما كان وراء ذلك فهو صدقة عليه وقال من كان يؤمن بالله واليوم الآخر فليقل خيرا أو ليصمت وقال أبو كامل ولا يثوي عنده حتى يحرجه
