He performed Hajj during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ but did not catch up with the people until nighttime, when he was at Jam. So he set off to Arafat, departed from it, then returned and came to Jam.He said, "Messenger of Allah, I have exhausted myself and tired out my mount. Is there a valid Hajj for me?"He replied, "Whoever prays the morning prayer with us at Jam and stands with us until we depart, having already departed from Arafat before that, by night or by day, his Hajj is complete and he has fulfilled its rites."
قال حدثنا أبو نعيم قال حدثنا زكريا عن الشعبي قال حدثني
أنه حج على عهد رسول الله ﷺ فلم يدرك الناس إلا ليلا وهو بجمع فانطلق إلى عرفات فأفاض منها ثم رجع فأتى جمعا فقال يا رسول الله أتعبت نفسي وأنصبت راحلتي فهل لي من حج فقال من صلى معنا صلاة الغداة بجمع ووقف معنا حتى نفيض وقد أفاض قبل ذلك من عرفات ليلا أو نهارا فقد تم حجه وقضى تفثه
