On the day of the Trench, a man was shielding himself with his shield, raising it like this so it covered the bridge of his nose, then lowering it again like this. So I reached for my quiver and drew out a bloodied arrow, and I set it against the bow's grip. When he did this and lowered the shield, I shot. I have not forgotten how the arrow struck such-and-such a part of the shield. He fell and kicked out with his leg, and the Prophet of Allah ﷺ laughed. I think he said, until his back teeth showed.I asked, "Why?"He replied, "At what the man did."
