Abu Razeen reported,

I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "Messenger of Allah, how does Allah bring the dead back to life?"He replied, "Have you not passed through a parched land of yours, then passed through it again when it had become lush and green?"I said, "Yes."He said, "Such is the resurrection."I said, "Messenger of Allah, what is faith?"He said, "That you bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, with no partner, and that Muhammad is His servant and messenger. That Allah and His Messenger be more beloved to you than anything else. That you would prefer to be burned in fire than to associate anything with Allah. And that you love a person to whom you are not related by blood, loving him only for the sake of Allah . When you are like that, the love of faith has entered your heart just as the love of water enters a thirsty man on a scorching day."I said, "Messenger of Allah, how can I know that I am a believer?"He said, "There is no servant of my community, or of this community, who performs a good deed knowing that it is a good deed and that Allah will reward him well for it, and who does not commit a sin without knowing that it is a sin and seeking forgiveness from Allah for it, knowing that none forgives but He, except that he is a believer."

قال حدثنا علي بن إسحاق قال أخبرنا عبد الله يعني ابن المبارك قال أخبرنا عبد الرحمن بن يزيد بن جابر عن سليمان بن موسى

عن أبي رزين العقيلي قال

أتيت رسول الله ﷺ فقلت يا رسول الله كيف يحيي الله الموتى قال أما مررت بأرض من أرضك مجدبة ثم مررت بها مخصبة قال نعم قال كذلك النشور قال يا رسول الله وما الإيمان قال أن تشهد أن لا إله إلا الله وحده لا شريك له وأن محمدا عبده ورسوله وأن يكون الله ورسوله أحب إليك مما سواهما وأن تحرق بالنار أحب إليك من أن تشرك بالله وأن تحب غير ذي نسب لا تحبه إلا لله عز وجل فإذا كنت كذلك فقد دخل حب الإيمان في قلبك كما دخل حب الماء للظمآن في اليوم القائظ قلت يا رسول الله كيف لي بأن أعلم أني مؤمن قال ما من أمتي أو هذه الأمة عبد يعمل حسنة فيعلم أنها حسنة وأن الله عز وجل جازيه بها خيرا ولا يعمل سيئة فيعلم أنها سيئة واستغفر الله عز وجل منها ويعلم أنه لا يغفر إلا هو إلا وهو مؤمن
