Aws reported,

I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as part of the delegation from Thakeef. We were in a tent, and everyone in it left except for me and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.A man came and whispered something to him.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Go and kill him."Then he said, "Does he not testify that there is no god but Allah?"The man replied, "Yes, but he only says it to seek protection."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Bring him back."Then he said, "I have been commanded to fight people until they say, 'There is no god but Allah.' Once they say it, their blood and their wealth become inviolable to me, except by its rightful claim."I said to Shuba, "Does the hadith not say, 'Then he said, Does he not testify that there is no god but Allah and that I am the Messenger of Allah?'"Shuba replied, "I think that phrase is included with it, but I am not certain."

قال حدثنا محمد بن جعفر قال حدثنا شعبة عن النعمان قال سمعت

أوسا يقول

أتيت رسول الله ﷺ في وفد ثقيف فكنا في قبة فقام من كان فيها غيري وغير رسول الله ﷺ فجاء رجل فساره فقال اذهب فاقتله ثم قال أليس يشهد أن لا إله إلا الله قال بلى ولكنه يقولها تعوذا فقال رده ثم قال أمرت أن أقاتل الناس حتى يقولوا لا إله إلا الله فإذا قالوها حرمت علي دماؤهم وأموالهم إلا بحقها فقلت لشعبة أليس في الحديث ثم قال أليس يشهد أن لا إله إلا الله وأني رسول الله قال شعبة أظنها معها وما أدري
