The Messenger of Allah ﷺ wanted to forbid a certain kind of sale, so the people said, "Messenger of Allah, this is our livelihood."He replied, "Then let there be no deception in it."We used to be called brokers. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by us and gave us a better name than that, saying, "Company of merchants, this trade of yours involves idle talk and swearing of oaths, so blend it with charity."
قال حدثنا يزيد بن هارون قال أخبرنا العوام بن حوشب قال حدثني إبراهيم مولى صخير عن بعض أصحاب النبي ﷺ قال أراد رسول الله ﷺ أن ينهى عن بيع فقالوا يا رسول الله إنها معايشنا قال فقال لا خلاب إذا وكنا نسمى السماسرة فذكر الحديث
