After this verse was revealed, meaning the saying of Allah Most High "Do not raise your voices above the voice of the Prophet" [Hujurat 49:2], Umar would not let the Prophet ﷺ hear him without first asking him to clarify what he had said.
حدثنا موسى بن داود حدثنا نافع يعني ابن عمر عن ابن أبي مليكة فقال
فما كان عمر يسمع النبي ﷺ بعد هذه الآية حتى يستفهمه يعني قوله تعالى {لا ترفعوا أصواتكم فوق صوت النبي}
Its isnad is sahih, its narrators are trustworthy. Nafi bin Umar bin Abdullah bin Jamil Jumahi Makki is a trustworthy, firmly reliable, learned narrator, and so is Ibn Abu Mulayka, who is Abdullah bin Ubaydullah bin Abu Mulayka. Bukhari related the hadith in 12/18 of Fath, in the chapter on inheritance, on the inheritance of the grandfather, and Tirmidhi related it in 5/387, number 3266, in the tafsir of Surah Hujurat.
