Sahl bin Abu Hathma reported,

Habibah, daughter of Sahl, was married to Thabit bin Qays bin Shammas al-Ansari. She came to dislike him, for he was a man of unattractive appearance. So she went to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Messenger of Allah, when I see him, were it not for the fear of Allah , I would spit in his face."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked her, "Will you return to him the garden he gave you as your bridal gift?"She replied, "Yes."He sent for Thabit, and she returned the garden to him, and he separated the two of them.The narrator said, this was the first khul divorce that took place in Islam.

قال حدثنا عبد القدوس بن بكر بن خنيس قال أخبرنا حجاج عن عمرو بن شعيب عن أبيه عن عبد الله بن عمرو والحجاج عن محمد بن سليمان بن أبي حثمة

عن عمه سهل بن أبي حثمة قال

كانت حبيبة ابنة سهل تحت ثابت بن قيس بن شماس الأنصاري فكرهته وكان رجلا دميما فجاءت إلى النبي ﷺ فقالت يا رسول الله إني لأراه فلولا مخافة الله عز وجل لبزقت في وجهه فقال رسول الله ﷺ أتردين عليه حديقته التي أصدقك قالت نعم فأرسل إليه فردت عليه حديقته وفرق بينهما قال فكان ذلك أول خلع كان في الإسلام
