The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade the sale of dates for dates, but granted a concession for araya, allowing them to be purchased based on an estimate of their measure so that the owners could eat them as fresh dates.Sufyan said, Yahya bin Saeed asked me, "What knowledge do the people of Mecca have of araya?"I replied, "Ata informed them, having heard it from Jabir."

نهى رسول الله ﷺ عن بيع التمر بالتمر ورخص في العرايا أن تشترى بخرصها يأكلها أهلها رطبا قال سفيان قال لي يحيى بن سعيد وما علم أهل مكة بالعرايا قلت أخبرهم عطاء سمعه من جابر
