A man said to the Prophet ﷺ, "We eat but never feel satisfied."He replied, "Perhaps you eat separately. Gather together for your meal and mention the name of Allah over it, and it will be blessed for you."
حدثنا يزيد بن عبد ربه قال حدثنا الوليد بن مسلم
أن رجلا قال للنبي ﷺ إنا نأكل وما نشبع قال فلعلكم تأكلون مفترقين اجتمعوا على طعامكم واذكروا اسم الله تعالى عليه يبارك لكم فيه
Its isnad is hasan, on account of Wahshi bin Harb and his father, and on account of Walid bin Muslim, since he did not explicitly state that he heard directly. As for Yazid bin Abd Rabbih Al-Himsi, the muezzin, he is trustworthy and his hadith is found in Muslim, and Walid is trustworthy but he practices tadlis.There has been disagreement about Wahshi bin Harb. Ajli accepted him, while others said, "One should not concern himself with him or with his father." Regarding his father, there was also disagreement, some accepted and approved of him, while others criticized him.The hadith was narrated by Abu Dawud with its wording and chain in the Book of Foods, the chapter on gathering together for food, 3/346, number 3764.
