Rabia bin Abbad reported,

I was a young man with my father, watching the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as he went from tribe to tribe. Behind him was a man who was cross-eyed, bright-faced, with long flowing hair. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would stop at a tribe and say, "Sons of so-and-so, I am the Messenger of Allah to you. I command you to worship Allah and to associate nothing with Him, and to believe me until I deliver from Allah what He has sent me with."When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished speaking, the other man behind him would say, "Sons of so-and-so, this man wants you to strip away al-Lat and al-Uzza, and your allies from the tribe of Banu Malik bin Uqaysh, in favor of the innovation and misguidance he has brought. Do not listen to him and do not follow him."So I asked my father, "Who is this?"He replied, "His uncle, Abu Lahab."

ربيعة بن عباد الديلي قال

إني لمع أبي رجل شاب أنظر إلى رسول الله ﷺ يتبع القبائل ووراءه رجل أحول وضيء ذو جمة يقف رسول الله ﷺ على القبيلة ويقول يا بني فلان إني رسول الله إليكم آمركم أن تعبدوا الله ولا تشركوا به شيئا وأن تصدقوني حتى أنفذ عن الله ما بعثني به فإذا فرغ رسول الله ﷺ من مقالته قال الآخر من خلفه يا بني فلان إن هذا يريد منكم أن تسلخوا اللات والعزى وحلفاءكم من الحي بني مالك بن أقيش إلى ما جاء به من البدعة والضلالة فلا تسمعوا له ولا تتبعوه فقلت لأبي من هذا قال عمه أبو لهب
