I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ going about among the people at Mina at their dwellings, before he migrated to Madinah, saying, "People, Allah commands you to worship Him alone and not to associate anything with Him."Behind him was a man saying, "This man is ordering you to abandon the religion of your forefathers."I asked who this man was, and I was told, "This is Abu Lahab."

Its isnad is sahih. Saeed bin Abu Rabi, Ashath, the Samman, was deemed reliable by Ibn Hibban, and Ahmad said, "He is truthful." Saeed bin Salama bin Abu Hisam Adawi, their freedman, Abu Amr Madani, was deemed reliable by them, and his hadith, taken from his book, is beyond dispute. His hadith is found in Muslim, and this hadith was already mentioned at 15962.
