Abu Muwayhiba reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was commanded to pray for the people of Baqi, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed for them three times during the night. On the second night, he said, "Abu Muwayhibah, saddle my mount for me."He rode, and I walked alongside until he reached them. He dismounted, and I held the animal while he stood before them. He said, "Peace be upon you, people of the graves. May what you are in be a comfort to you compared to what people are facing. Trials have come like patches of dark night, one following another, the latter worse than the former. So may what you are in be a comfort to you."Then he turned back and said, "Abu Muwayhibah, I have been given," or he said, "I have been given the choice between the keys to the treasures of this world and a long life in it, followed by Paradise, or meeting my Lord and Paradise."I said, "May my father and mother be ransomed for you, Messenger of Allah, take the keys to the treasures of this world and a long life in it, followed by Paradise."He said, "No, by Allah, Abu Muwayhibah, I have chosen meeting my Lord ."Then he did not remain except seven or eight nights after that until he passed away ﷺ.Abu Nadr once said, "returns upon its heels."

قال حدثنا أبو النضر حدثنا الحكم بن فضيل حدثنا يعلى بن عطاء عن عبيد بن جبير

عن أبي مويهبة مولى رسول الله ﷺ قال

أمر رسول الله ﷺ أن يصلي على أهل البقيع فصلى عليهم رسول الله ﷺ ليلة ثلاث مرات فلما كانت ليلة الثانية قال يا أبا مويهبة أسرج لي دابتي قال فركب فمشيت حتى انتهى إليهم فنزل عن دابته وأمسكت الدابة ووقف عليهم أو قال قام عليهم فقال ليهنيكم ما أنتم فيه مما فيه الناس أتت الفتن كقطع الليل يركب بعضها بعضا الآخرة أشد من الأولى فليهنيكم ما أنتم فيه ثم رجع فقال يا أبا مويهبة إني أعطيت أو قال خيرت مفاتيح ما يفتح على أمتي من بعدي والجنة أو لقاء ربي فقلت بأبي وأمي يا رسول الله فأخبرني قال لأن ترد على عقبها ما شاء الله فاخترت لقاء ربي عز وجل فما لبث بعد ذلك إلا سبعا أو ثمانيا حتى قبض ﷺ وقال أبو النضر مرة ترد على عقبيها
