Its chain is daif because of a break in it. Abu Bakr bin Hafs bin Umar bin Saad bin Abu Waqqas was from Madinah, well known by his kunya, and it is said his name was Abdullah. He is trustworthy according to the scholars, by their unanimous agreement, but he did not meet Saad, so his narration from him is a disconnected one, as Ibn Abu Hatim relates in al-Marasil, 92, from his father. As for the story that Ahmad refers to in this narration, I have not found it anywhere else.The hadith appears in Majma al-Zawaid, 6:244, where it is said, "Ahmad narrated it," and a story is mentioned in connection with it, "and Tabarani narrated it in al-Awsat, and the men of Ahmad's chain are the men of the sahih, except that Abu Bakr bin Hafs did not hear from Saad."After that, another hadith is cited from Saad bin Abu Waqqas, who said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever is killed defending his property is a martyr." It is said, "Tabarani narrated it in al-Saghir, and Bazzar narrated it, and Tabarani's chain is good."
