The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Apply perfumed ithmid kohl to your eyes, for it sharpens the sight and makes the lashes grow."

قال رسول الله ﷺ اكتحلوا بالإثمد المروح فإنه يجلو البصر وينبت الشعر
Its chain is daif because of the unknown status of Numan. Abu Dawud recorded the hadith, saying, "Abdul-Rahman bin Numan bin Mabad bin Hawdha," then said after the hadith, "Yahya bin Main said, this is a munkar hadith." However, he also recorded it in 4/8, number 3878, with a sahih chain from Ibn Abbas. Likewise, Tirmidhi narrated it from Ibn Abbas, 4/234, number 1757, and said, "Hasan gharib." Nasai also narrated it, 8/149, number 5113, in the chapter on adornment, kohl. Munziri likewise graded it hasan in Targhib, 3/122, as did Ibn Hajar in Fath al-Bari, 10/157, and Ibn Hibban, 12/242, number 5423, in Ihsan. It is also found in Ibn Majah, 2/1156, number 3495, and Darimi, 2/26, number 1733.
