I heard Kurdus bin Qays, who was the public storyteller in Kufa, say, "A man from among the companions of Badr informed me that he heard the Prophet ﷺ say, 'For me to sit in a gathering like this is more beloved to me than freeing four slaves.'"Shuba said, "I asked him, 'Which gathering do you mean?' He said that the man had been a storyteller."

سمعت كردوس بن قيس وكان قاص العامة بالكوفة قال أخبرني رجل من أصحاب بدر أنه سمع النبي ﷺ يقول لأن أقعد في مثل هذا المجلس أحب إلي من أن أعتق أربع رقاب قال شعبة فقلت أي مجلس تعني قال كان قاصا
