Abu Ahwas reported,

I came to the Prophet ﷺ in shabby appearance, and he asked, "Do you have any wealth?"I said, "Yes."He asked, "What kind of wealth?"I said, "Every kind of wealth, horses, camels, slaves, and sheep."He said, "When Allah gives you wealth, let its effect be visible on you."Then he asked, "Do the camels of your people give birth to offspring with intact ears, only for you to take a razor and cut them, saying, 'This one is a bahirah,' and slit their skin, saying, 'This one is a surm,' thereby forbidding them to yourself and your family?"I said, "Yes."He said, "Everything Allah has given you is lawful for you. Allah's forearm is stronger, and Allah's razor is sharper." He sometimes said it and sometimes did not, and sometimes he said, "Allah's forearm is stronger than your forearm, and Allah's razor is sharper than your razor."I said, "Messenger of Allah, a man came to me as a guest and neither hosted me nor treated me with respect. Then later he came to me as a guest. Should I host him, or repay him for what he did?"He said, "Rather, host him."

حدثنا عفان حدثنا شعبة قال أبو إسحاق أنبأنا قال سمعت

أبا الأحوص يحدث عن أبيه قال

أتيت النبي ﷺ وأنا قشيف الهيئة فقال هل لك مال قال قلت نعم قال فما مالك فقال من كل المال من الخيل والإبل والرقيق والغنم قال فإذا آتاك الله عز وجل مالا فلير عليك فقال هل تنتج إبل قومك صحاحا آذانها فتعمد إلى الموسى فتقطعها أو تقطعها وتقول هذه بحر وتشق جلودها وتقول هذه صرم فتحرمها عليك وعلى أهلك قال قلت نعم قال كل ما آتاك الله عز وجل لك حل وساعد الله أشد وموسى الله أحد وربما قالها وربما لم يقلها وربما قال ساعد الله أشد من ساعدك وموسى الله أحد من موساك قال قلت يا رسول الله رجل نزلت به فلم يقرني ولم يكرمني ثم نزل بي أقريه أو أجزيه بما صنع قال بل اقره
