The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Hands are of three kinds. The hand of Allah is the highest, the hand of the giver comes next, and the hand of the beggar is the lowest. So give what is surplus, and do not fall short in caring for yourself."
حدثنا عبيدة بن حميد أبو عبد الرحمن التيمي قال حدثنا أبو الزعراء عن أبي الأحوص
قال رسول الله ﷺ الأيدي ثلاثة فيد الله العليا ويد المعطي التي تليها ويد السائل السفلى فأعط الفضل ولا تعجز عن نفسك
Its isnad is sahih. Ubayda bin Humayd Taymi, Abu Abdul-Rahman the maker of shoes, the well-known grammarian, was deemed trustworthy by scholars, and his hadiths appear in Bukhari and the four Sunan compilers. Abu Zara is Abdullah bin Hani Kufi, one of the senior Successors, whom Ajli deemed trustworthy, and many others declared his narrations sahih.The hadith was narrated by Abu Dawud, 2/123, no. 1649, in the chapter on zakat, on refraining from asking, and by Ibn Khuzayma, 4/96, no. 2425, in the chapter on zakat, on the merit of the one who gives charity, and by Hakim, 1/408, with Dhahabi remaining silent on it, and by Bayhaqi, 4/198.
