You commit acts that appear, in your own eyes, finer than a hair, yet in the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ we used to count them among the destructive sins.This was mentioned to Muhammad bin Sirin, who said, "He spoke the truth, and I consider trailing one's lower garment to be among them."
حدثنا إسماعيل قال أخبرنا أيوب عن حميد بن هلال قال قال
إنكم لتأتون أمورا هي أدق في أعينكم من الشعر كنا نعدها على عهد رسول الله ﷺ الموبقات قال فذكر ذلك لمحمد بن سيرين فقال صدق وأرى جر الإزار منها
Its isnad is sahih. Humayd bin Hilal is Adawi, Abu Nasr Basri, a trustworthy and learned scholar, but they criticized him for taking up judgeship and entering into the service of the ruler. The hadith has already preceded in similar form from another narration at 12541.
