Umar used to instruct people to say these five supplications, reporting them from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ,"O Allah, I seek refuge in You from miserliness, and I seek refuge in You from cowardice, and I seek refuge in You from being returned to the most feeble stage of old age, and I seek refuge in You from the trials of this world, and I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave."
حدثنا محمد بن جعفر حدثنا شعبة عن عبد الملك بن عمير عن مصعب
أنه كان يأمر بهؤلاء الخمس ويخبر بهن عن رسول الله ﷺ اللهم إني أعوذ بك من البخل وأعوذ بك من الجبن وأعوذ بك أن أرد إلى أرذل العمر وأعوذ بك من فتنة الدنيا وأعوذ بك من عذاب القبر
